Use this tool to quickly submit a single species record to Cofnod
  • If you submit records regularly, you may find it easier to use our Online Recording System, which lets you view any records you have submitted and offers many more features.
  • If you would like to submit a large number of records, you can send us your data via email.
N.B. Records submitted will not appear immediately within eMapper, but will be made available in future searches once they have passed through our verification process.
What species are you recording?
Large Results Set

As this report contains a large number of records, species have not been automatically plotted on the map as eMapper may become less responsive.

Select individual species or species groups from the menu to add them to the map, and use filters to show only those records that are relevant to you.

Notes

  • LERC Wales Aderyn Search uses a search system which optionally reports species (usually high priority or protected species) within a specified search radius or buffer. Where required a search will also include high priority 'Mobile Species', such as bats, otters, amphibians and certain invertebrates, which lie outside the specified search radius. These species are highlighted on the report with (Mobile) next to the distance. They have been selected as 'Mobile Species' as their territory (possibly due to foraging activity or life cycle) could intersect with the search radius.
  • Records with 4 figure grid references are displayed as 1km squares on any relevant maps. They are highlighted with (1km) next to the distance.
  • Records on a yellow background are sensitive species records, and must not be released into the public domain. A public version of this report is also available and this can be released into the public domain. In the public version the resolution of sensitive species grid references are reduced and site names and comments are removed.
  • Records displayed in bold are sensitive species records, and must not be released into the public domain. A public version of this report is also available and this can be released into the public domain. In the public version the resolution of sensitive species grid references are reduced and site names and comments are removed.
  • Distances: The distance from each record to the grid reference will be shown in the 'Distance (m)' column (except in public versions of reports as referred to above). Distances are highlighted in red where records fall within 50m of the grid reference. Distances are measured from edge of the search location to the centre point of a record's grid square.
  • BARB Reports: If this is a Bats and Roof-nesting Birds report, please note that 'roof-nesting birds' includes all records (including non-breeding sightings) of the following species which habitually nest in buildings and roof-spaces: Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus), Peregrine (Falco peregrinus), Lesser Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus), Herring Gull (Larus argentatus), Barn Owl (Tyto alba), Little Owl (Athene noctua), Common Swift (Apus apus), Jackdaw (Corvus monedula), Swallow (Hirundo rustica), House Martin (Delichon urbicum), Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes), Starling (Sturnus vulgaris), Black Redstart (Phoenicurus ochruros), Common Redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus), House Sparrow (Passer domesticus), Pied Wagtail (Motacilla alba).
  • Sites: As well as designated and non-statutory Wildlife Sites/SINCs, NWWT and RSPB reserves are shown. Wildlife Sites/SINCs which remain unconfirmed by the relevant Local Authority are given 'Candidate' status and are displayed with a (C) suffix. The following reasons for candidate status apply: 1. Anglesey and Flintshire Wildlife Sites were identified by survey but have not been formally confirmed. 2. Conwy and Gwynedd Wildlife Sites were identified by survey and air photos and remain candidate until evaluated using selection criteria.
  • Habitats: Habitats shown are from the Habitat Survey of Wales (1979 to 1997) using the Phase 1 survey methodology. The habitat at the search location is shown in red. Habitats are ordered in descending size order, with the area and percentage cover of each habitat within the search radius shown in brackets.

Hints & Tips

  • We recommend that you view the report before you print it using your browser's Print Preview function.
  • Under 'Print Preview', set your page to A4 Landscape, turn off Header and Footer text, and adjust the margins to allow as much of the page to be used for printing as possible.
  • Untick any species or sites that you don't want to be included on the map.
  • To print to a file rather than paper, select the PDF option from your list of printers. If you don't see it, we recommend that you install doPDF. Alternatively, use eMapper's Download option to obtain the records tables (without the map) in PDF format.
